We come to know the world around us as a byproduct of our highly complex sensory systems. Who we are, what we think and what we do are all determined by how our brains process this information. This simple fact formed the foundation and treatment approaches of RHI in Saint Louis. Here at RHI we offer ways to optimize brain functioning and thereby reduce problematic symptoms. Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is the merging of technology (electro-encephalograph) and biology (brain waves). It is a non-invasive and effective way to develop healthy patterns of brain functioning. In this therapy,
¨ sensors are placed on the scalp to monitor current brain wave activity.
¨ client is seated in front of a computer screen (see photo) is able to see this activity and with the aid of visual and auditory feedback
Client can alter their brain wave pattern. Over a number of sessions the patterns normalize and the symptoms begin to subside. The number of sessions range from 30 to 45 depending on the complexity of symptoms.
Sensory Integration
Our world is a potpourri of sounds, smells, sights and things to touch. We are constantly receiving information from the world through our senses, these being a few:
